In two months from now from October 17–19, 2018, the International Dracula Conference in Brașov, Romania, will take place. The organizers still invite scholars, students and other interested persons to submit an abstract and participate in the conference and its workshops. The regular conference fee is €149, but there are discounts for students and for participants from Eastern Europe (reduced fee of €99 only).

This conference is the follow-up event of the highly successful Fourth World Dracula Congress that took place in Dublin at Trinity College in October 2016. The Brașov Conference is organised by the non-profit “Children of the Night” Conference initiative, supported by worldwide renowned Dracula experts. Its aim is to present groundbreaking research on Bram Stoker, his novel Dracula and related topics on a bi-annual basis. In this sense, it is the only regular conference series focusing on Dracula worldwide.

The organizing team consists of Dracula expert, researcher and author Hans Corneel de Roos (Germany/Philippines), film specialist Dr. Magdalena Grabias (Poland), Dr. Florin Nechita (Romania), lecturer for Marketing, Advertising and Branding at the Transilvania University of Brașov and Dr. Marcia Heloisa (Brazil), translator of the Brazilian editions of Dracula and Power of Darkness.

By now, around 25 contributions have been accepted, but as the Transilvania University of Brașov has generously provided a large auditorium and further seminar rooms for a period of three days, there still is room for further participants.

Brașov is a beautiful historical city in the center of Romania, close to the famous (but not really Dracula-related) Bran Castle. It thrives with student life, has a great gastronomy and very affordable hotels. Flights should be booked to Bucharest; from Bucharest Otopeni Airport, there are buses to Brașov (around €25).

All information about the Conference and how to register can be found on https://dracongress.jimdo.com/. You can also take a look at the “Children of the Night” Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/COTNDC/.

The organizers look forward to meeting you in Brașov!
